Definition of manufacturability analysis and its main features

Manufacturability analysis, or manufacturability review technology, refers to the designer evaluating the manufacturability of a product at the stage of product design with the help of a set of tools and related knowledge base, and modifying the design to meet the requirements of the manufacturing process while ensuring the function and quality of the product.DFM mainly solves the problem of manually analyzing the efficiency, cost and manufacturability of product development.

Traditional manual review process

Traditional manual review not only delays the project progress of the model project, but also cannot consider the constraints of manufacturability, cost and other aspects of the product at the early stage of design.

Main features of manufacturability analysis techniques

DFM technology adds three feedback loops to the development process of electronic products, which are placed in front of the system feedback in PCBA manufacturing and the quality feedback in the use of electronic products. The main features are as follows:

(1) Design is synchronized with manufacturability. Designers can use DFM to analyze the manufacturability of PCBA cabling and correct related defects. At the same time, it also reduces the limitation of inexperienced designers, improves design efficiency and one-time success rate, and avoids version changes due to design errors in subsequent debugging.

(2) In the synchronization of process and design, DFM constructs a bridge between design and process so that process can be involved in the design ahead of time, and combined with the production status, specific problems that need to be improved in design will be effectively fed back to the designer to achieve high-quality process design of PCB bare panel.

(3) In the synchronization of materials, processes and designs, DFM can check the compatibility of effective BOM and design files of materials, simulate and assemble PCBA, complete the work that cannot be done in the traditional process review, and provide the most accurate and effective data for the next stage of production and manufacturing.

Conclusion

The application of DFM technology in the development of electronic products can change the traditional development mode, allow technicians to fully participate in the design stage of model products, and through the rules of manufacturability analysis, quickly and intelligently find the possible problems in the manufacture, so as to make predictive decisions, greatly improve the research and development level of equipment, and achieve one-time product manufacturing success and minimize cost, shortening product development cycle and improving equipment quality.
